1998 Z302 Heartland Marine

Just put a deposit down on a 98 Z302 at Heartland Marine at lake of the Ozark's. Does anyone have any experience buying from them? They have a lot of big boats. There are a few minor issues with the boat they are going to fix. A couple scratches and some cracks in the upholstery. They have their own shop and do all their own work. Does anyone have any experience with this place? I'm buying from out of state and will be taking the boat back to Indiana.

Welcome aboard! We have a number of members in the area of Lake of the Ozarks so sooner or later someone here will chime in with any experience they may have had with that marina. When you get an opportunity, check out our Member Map!

Nice!
They got a A+ rating with the BBB(I know that isn't much) , and I couldn't find anything on them negative doing a search:yes_grin:

Not that it means much, but LOTO used to use the Challenger FPS302 as their police boats

I looked at their lot for my 272 and thought it looked like a used car lot. None of the boats had trailers either. I ended up passing on buying from them as it did not feel good. I did use a private mechanic in the area to do a mechanical evaluation if you want his name.

We made a trip out there and looked at it. We will make another trip out in a few weeks and will test drive it on the lake before the deal is done. They move a lot of boats I know what you mean by the car lot comment. I guess most people on that lake don't trailer since everyone has docks with lift. I couldn't find anything negative about them. We have family from that area and asked around and no negative feedback so we pulled the trigger.

I bought my boat from them. They have a good reputation around the lake. I lived 5 hours away at the time so I had to do everything over the phone/email. I made a trip out to see it and then another trip out to do a sea trial and pick it up. No complaints.
Right, it's very common that boats don't have trailers at LOTO.

We bought our z302 from them. Negotiated the deal over the phone and email with lots of pics attached!! When we went to "water test" the boat everything was as described. Found a few "minor" issues which they willingly repaired prioir to closing the deal. They don't spend much on facilities or a fancy lot--but they are good folks and sell LOTS of boats!!
Good Luck!!:wink_thumbup:

Was curious how the Z302 worked out for you. I had looked at that very same boat but Heartland indicated it had just been sold. Must have been to you!

We are very happy with it, looking forward to this summer after all the snow and cold weather we are having this winter. Did you end up finding another Mariah?

Yes we found another Z302 from a private seller over Memorial Day weekend. It is a 1999 but is equipped similarly to the one you purchased. We didn't take possession until late summer so really looking forward to warmer weather and getting it out on the water.
