mariah virgin
Hello everyone,
we are presently looking into a 1997 224 jubilee with a 454 mag mpi. Has anyone a similar craft and how do rate it. The boat needs some TLC as the previous owner did not understand what he had. We are worried about the eng and bravo III drive but a local dealer would help in the tuneup department. We just need an overall feel for the craft as we love deck boats and this one caught our eye. We did see a 1997 212 jubilee with a 4.3L mpi. Also is anyone running such a craft and would like your input. |
Re: mariah virgin
Welcome aboard!
Jubilees that are well maintained are great boats and we have quite a number of members here who own them. If they haven't been looked after then they are like any other boat and can suffer from electrical & mechanical problems. Just ensure all of the trim pieces, the windscreen and the door to the loo are in good shape as they are the most difficult items to find & replace. All of the mechanical and electrical components are still available from various places. You might find the 4.3 in the 212 just a little under-powered but not significantly. There is no question that the 454 with the bravo 3 in the 224 will be a much better performing and handling boat. Are either of these boats "Z" models? Take the time to do a site search for "Jubilee" and you will find numerous threads full of information on these boats. |

Re: mariah virgin
site is still new to me cant seem to find a 'z' boat definition. There is a powered hatch and thru hull exhaust on the 224.

Re: mariah virgin
"Z" models come with things like power drivers seat, windshield wipers, windshield defrosters, power rear hatch, upgraded console (water temp/tripmeter etc)... lots of little extra goodies.
If you want confirmation, send a private message with your hull ID# to our Admin (Shabah Z250) and he will look it up for you. |
Re: mariah virgin
thanks again on that. Will have to get hull ID# tomorrow.

Re: mariah virgin
on that note. on the 212 with the 4.3L bIII drive, is there a way to upgrade to 5.0/5.7l or do we have to by a complete set ie eng and stern

Re: mariah virgin
very sorry on that mike
being new on termenology thought any dual prop was III |
Re: mariah virgin
Yes, the Bravo 3 is a dual prop.
The 99 214 Jubilee that I just bought has a 4.3 mated to a dual prop bravo 3. Once the ice clears on the lake, I'll be able to give you a performance rundown, but for now we're at 20ish inches of ice. Probably will be mid April before I can spash the boat. I decided to pull the trigger on this boat because my neighbor runs a Monterey (same empty weight as the Jubilee) with a 4.3 and it pulls well. No incredible top speed to brag about, but easily gets a boat load of adults on plane and runs out in the upper 40's. Oh yeah, and from what I've read, if you want to up-size from a 4.3, you will have to change the gear set in the outdrive too. |
Re: mariah virgin
thanks for that, we will cross that bridge when we get there.

Re: mariah virgin
hey everyone, is there a factory service manual on site to show to get the helm apart to refurbish the shroud.

Re: mariah virgin
after reviewing the 244 it is a "Z" boat with a the original matching trailer. The owner did not wrap up the boat, so its a bit dirty and the shine has faded. A quik buff by the tech showed life under the grime. It seem the hydraulic trims did not function. We are hoping that only the fluid is bad, contacts clicking, maybe just has to be cleaned and functioned well. Any thoughts on the trim tabs?
