Shabah 180se windshield

Good evening mariah owners club forum. I have had my 1997 Shabbah 180 since 2005. It's my pride and joy. But today is a sad day as my right hand windshield was smashed by my dad by accident whilst in storage out of the water. I know this is a frequently asked question but can replacement glass be obtained from Taylor made. I have the nos off the stickers etc on the aluminium frame and glass. Hoping some one can point me in the right direction as I'm gutted! Thanks Stuart in Norwich UK

Re: Shabah 180se windshield

You can try giving Taylor Made a call or email Stuart and provide them with the numbers you have but i wouldn't hold out a lot of hope. Your '97 was right at the border line for what they have told us previously that they 'might' be able to supply.

There are a couple of other vendors that can custom make windshield pieces but i suspect they will require your windshield frame to do so. You can get the info on those vendors from our Vendors List..

You can also check out our Parts & Collectibles for sale section. There was a couple of those windshields posted there quite a while ago but i'm not sure if they ever sold.

Re: Shabah 180se windshield

Thanks for replying. I have emailed TaylorMade with info I have. I have a friend in the uk who has suggested a company called trend marine here in norfolk who make glass for many people. They are actually listed on taylormade website so have contacted them as well. Absolutely gutted though!

I sent Taylor marine the frame no and I have been lucky. I have obtained original glass but at a premium cost. Lucky that I have been able to claim off insurance. If any one else has issues I suggest contacting Gayle Maye email is [email protected] as she has helped no end. Thanks Stuart.

Re: Shabah 180se windshield

$1047 for glass $60 for service charge and crating. Then $1200 to $1500 for shipping to UK. Once crated up And in dispatch final transport cost will be calculated. That is for front drivers side curve glass. Apparently this glass is in stock as it used on other boats. However the side glass and wings are specific to mariahs and may not be available. Gayle was very helpful but needed Taylor made part no on sticker on aluminium frame of window. From this she could cross reference glass. Luckily this has been covered by insurance!

Some of us have dealt with Gayle in the past and she is helpful. With the bit of (expensive) luck you just had though, i would be going out and buying a lottery ticket or two...

btw...what was your Taylor Made Part# ??

Re: Shabah 180se windshield

The taylormade no is 609175. I did some research and my options in the uk were to get some one to make it out plastic and that would have cost over £1000 ($ 1600 ) and would have been Plastic and not have matched. This would also not include time and money for me dragging the boat 200 miles to hampshire to allow a mould to be constructed from the frame work. Alternatively I spoke with trend marine who are a sister company of Taylor made and the best they could offer was a new windscreen frame work and glass system for £15000 to £20000. So they definitely didn't want the work. So all in all i know it's expensive but as insurance are paying and i will have to pay £100 excess and also have protected NCB this for me is the best option.

It's awesome it worked out for you Farmboy!! We'll have to get Chris(ShabahZ250) to save that number in a sticky for future reference.
I'd be interested to see pics too:)

:eek_animated: please tell me thats a typo

Re: Shabah 180se windshield

I'm afraid it's not a typo! They didnt want the business. I could tell from their attitude that they were only interested in large boat builders not small fish. Anyway fingers cross glass should be making its way to sunny norfolk in the next few days!

I have some pictures of damage so will post some before and after!

Re: Shabah 180se windshield

This all scares the Bejezzus out of me!
On my first outing with the boat, the port side windscreen popped out of its rubbers!
Luckily I noticed in time.
It happened because one little screw had come out of the frame at the bottom of the walkthrough upright section, allowing the glass to slip round and come lose.
I knew it wouldn’t be cheap if it broke but this is scary!

And oh! sunny norfolk...lol hope you've got the boat ready for next weeks weather....

Re: Shabah 180se windshield

Andy where are you based? What boat have you got? I will be protecting my glass from now on as it appears the curved glass you can get hold of, but for a small fortune but the centre walk through section and the sides are a different matter!

Andy are you guys going to get some wintry weather down there or is it just the east of England. As it is boat won't be out until march or April. Once I've fitted the glass and serviced leg. I'm running baby 3.0lx merc with an alpha gen2. Would love a 4.3 v6 but can't find one and new one is to expensive.

Re: Shabah 180se windshield

They are threatening snow down here and the gritters have been out. But I doubt it will come to much!
I’ve had a couple of 3.0L boats, this is my first 4.3 and the difference is quite noticeable.
The main difference I found with a 3L is it never quite gets out of the water, unlike the boat I have now.
At WOT when you trim out you get that floaty feeling like you’re on air. Only got that with some of my more pointy outboard boats before.
But it's not all good, the 4.3 does like a drink:big_drink:

Re: Shabah 180se windshield

So my glass turned up today in a very well packaged crate. Haven't fitted it yet but it looks like the part. Shape colour and it's made of glass! So pleased. Not sure insurers will be! Ended up costing £1509 after Custom duty, VAT and exchange rate. But Been paying insurance for 8 years so happy to make a claim.
I hope others are as lucky as me to find some replacement glass in the unfortunate situation if glass is broken.

That is good (although pricey) news! Hope all goes well with the insurer.
