Potential Mariah Buyer
Hello All,
We have been looking for our "first power boat", have been sailing for 30+ years, but the kids want to go fast, so we are on the hunt. Recently saw an ad for a 94 182 Barchetta that was in very nice shape from the pics, but know little about the brand or the model. It's got a 4.3 V6, not sure on hours because it has no meter. I'm looking some guidance - any trouble spots, bad floors & transom issues, mechanical gremlins that year and model may have had. I'm trying to find a copy of the specs and or brochure from the year but no luck so far. Price is about $6K - seems to be in the right range if it is a well kept as she looks. Thanks |
Re: Potential Mariah Buyer
Welcome aboard. There aren't really any specific issues with the 182 Barchetta and with the 4.3 it will make a very good little runabout. As with all older boats, you need to confirm if everything (electricals/trim & tilt etc) works as well as securing copies of service work done to the boat to see that it has been properly maintained. Checking for 'spongy' spots in the flooring is a good idea also but Mariahs aren't known for premature deterioration as the build quality is generally quite good. Above all you need to get it onto the water and see how it performs. That boat should get into the mid to high 40's depending on what prop is installed.
Replacement interior trim parts & glass for the boat are generally hard but not impossible to find, mechanical and electrical parts can still be found both new & used at various suppliers. We do have a list of vendors for most parts here on our site. As for specs etc, the 182 Barchetta is 18' 2" long with an 92" beam, has a 30gal fuel tank and weighs in a 2200lbs dry. Service manuals, promotional brochures etc are available to contributing members. If you are interested in becoming a contributing member click here & all will be explained. ps...after i mentioned that glass was difficult to find, here is an eBay link to a complete window frame/glass from a '94 182 Barchetta. |
