New 2008 sc19 Cuddy Owner
I just purchased my first boat, a 2008 19' Mariah SC19 Cuddy. I have a lot of questions and I am looking forward to finding the answers on here. I have already learned a lot from some of the older posts.
I have two quick questions for now. My first question is this; is this an actual model the 'SC19'? I see so many other model names of Mariah boats on here. I wonder if mine is some other model. SC19 is posted on the side at the glass. My bilge pump goes on itself about every 5-10 minutes and is on for only seconds. When I asked about that when I bought the boat, the guy I bought it from said he was told this boat/model did that and it did not draw much from the battery when it did. He said it was normal Is that true? Could there be a timer issue going on with the bilge pump? I was told it was the automatic bilge pump but it even did it when it was out of the water before I launched it. I have many other questions but I will save them for later. Just a quick 'hi' and looking forward to the many conversations for now. |
Re: New 2008 sc19 Cuddy Owner
Welcome to the board and congrats on your "new" Mariah!
Yes, if you have a 2008 model, it's an SC19. In 2009 they changed the designation to "G", so your model would be called a G19. The other models in the Sea Fox Mariah line are the FS (Fish & Ski), SX (bowrider), DX (deckboat) and the "R", which are the new remodeled SX bowriders. These are all the names that have been used since 2003 when Sea Fox began making these. Your boat is most likely equipped with an automatic bilge pump, and the issue you're having may have to do with a faulty float switch on the pump itself. If you get down and inspect the pump, you'll find a small square box attached to it. Feel around on it, and there will be a small plastic piece that you can raise up and down. Cycle it up and down about a dozen times, and see if you still have the same issues. Sometimes bilge debris can get stuck and cause the switch to malfunction. In fact, I just replaced my auto bilge pump switch last year. My pump is a mayfair/johnson 1250GPH pump, and the box is mounted directly to it. Not sure what they're using in the Sea Fox Mariahs, but if you can't find the switch, or are confused, post a photo of the bilge pump and we'll try and help you. |
