Info needed for Z252 Shabah...

Hello Everyone!
We are in the process of purchasing our first Mariah, a Z252 Shabah with the Indy graphics. Just completed our membership upgrade and wondering how to get a sales brochure for this boat. I have to admit, I'm sure it has many features we have no idea about!! Especially since the last boat I owned was a 1988 16ft 4 winns.

Any help is Greatly appreciated....

Thanks,
Lenny & Teresa

Welcome aboard Lenny & Teresa! Since you are a contributor to our site, you have access to all of the brochures/manuals/technical documents stored in the Original Mariah section.

Did you buy this boat around the Cincinnati area by any chance? There was one listed on craigslist recently. Also remember seeing it for sale a few years ago at Captains Cove Marine, and saw it out on the Ohio River once. I recognized it because it's the only boat that looks like my "bowrider twin" out on the water around these parts! :D

Chris,
Wow, your good! Actually, you are correct! I believe the boat is still buried in an indoor storage facility until ALL the campers and stuff is moved to get it out, but I have given a deposit pending my approval after a test drive.

I appreciate everyone's assistance and look forward to seeing you on the river!

I'll be keeping mine up at Lake Erie for the majority of the summer this year, however I'll be bringing it back home for a few weekends, mainly the Labor Day fireworks (will be getting a transient slip at Manhattan Harbor in Bellevue KY for that weekend). If you need to know any hotspots on the river around Cincinnati, just ask, been on the water for over 15 yrs around here! Drop me a line sometime! I'll keep my eye open on the water for you, shouldn't be too hard to miss each other! :wink_thumbup:

Chris,
Thanks! I am really looking forward to getting my hands on the boat and have some fun!! I do have a question.... Where do you get OEM replacement parts or even new OEM graphics if you want them?

I assume you are from Cincinnati, just curious....what part of town are you from??

Lenny

I know you asked Chris this question but i can answer it. You cant get some OEM parts anymore but we have sourced most so it depends on what you are looking for. If you have a look thru our Parts Vendors list you can see what we've sourced to date. Some parts such as interior trim pieces, windshield glass, dash fascia pieces & bin covers are near impossible to find though. The graphics & decals market for original Mariahs has just about been cornered by one of our members (Mike Eftink). He advertises on ebay but you can get them at a little better price thru his connection here. He (Mike Eftink) can be reached at [email protected]

MikeyT always gives the best answers! :D

As far as engine parts and mechanicals, (assuming you have a Mercruiser powerplant) can be ordered through any Mercruiser service facility. Volvo Penta service facilities aren't as common around here, but most marinas can get parts and perform service for them as well. Also if you're mechanically inclined and feel comfortable working on your own boat, you can order engine parts from any online retailer. We have quite a few helpful resources available on this site should you choose that route.

Yes, I am from the East side of Cincinnati, I live in the Mt. Washington area. My family and I have been river boaters all of our lives (since the 1950's) and have dealt with many of the Marinas and service facilities in town, so if you need any recommendations, I'll be glad to give them! I also know just about all of the bars/restaurants/hangout spots, so if you've got any questions just ask!

Well, it appears I will finally get our 2000 Z252. I'm told it is coming out of the storage building it has been trapped in behind a whole flock of winter stored campers. We get our test drive hopefully this week and have a trip planned to Cave Run Lake, Ky for Memorial Day weekend. Does anyone have any advice or things I need to give an extra look out before I complete my purchase or before our first weekend? I haven't had a boat in several years and nothing near this size....

You might want to put a set of muffs on the outdrive and fire her up in the driveway before putting in the water. Check to make sure that the impeller is spewing water out of the outdrive.

I NEED HELP!!

I have been put off and put off more (+2months) waiting to see / test drive my potential 2000 Z252 Shabah until i have given up and located another boat we like very much. As luck would have it we located a like 2006 Rinker 226 R1 wakeboard boat with a 350 magnum and an Alpha.

We intend to use our boat primarily on the Ohio River and the large lakes in Kentucky and Tennessee for a mixure of skiing, tubing, wakeboarding, but mostly floating, eating and swimming with 3-8 adults.

I realize these are very different boats, but I really need help from you guys.... The Rinker is immaculate and only $3500 more than the Shabah which needs a little work (graphic scratched a little, power hatch inoperable, bent trailer fender), but very nice. We've tried to list / evaluate the pro's and con's, but we are at a dead lock.

I want the Shabah, but we are stuggling with this decision that we hope to make over the next day or so.

What would you do??

Go with the boat that works best for you and your needs. I think that Dredd here has switched over to a Rinker also.
