Newbi 2007 SX19 Owner in Arkansas

Just purchased a 2007 SX19 with the 190hp 4.3l engine. I bought a repo and had it delivered on Tuesday and took it to the lake yesterday for a ride. It ran really well, but seemed very sluggish out of the hole. I have several more questions but it said to post your first post here, so here it is. The boat looks really good and is in great shape. I didn't get any manuals with it so still trying to figure everything out.

I was a member of a motorcycle website similar to this, so I have a little experience with the online aspect of the community. I have already learned alot just searcing the forums.

If there are any other Arkansans out there, gimme a shout. GO HOGS!!

Welcome aboard Dave. Being sluggish out of the hole is usually a matter of dropping the prop pitch 1 or 2". Do you know what prop is on the boat now?

No, I don't. I will try and look tomorrow and see. I have also been reading up on the Smart Tabs and those sound like they would do the boat great. My biggest concern now is that the engine cover doesn't have any support system at all. It looks as though it had something at one time but it was removed. I am trying to find out what size gas assist springs I should put on to help. Guess that is another thread but my biggest issue right now.

And also make sure there are NO dings in the prop as well.

I have the 2007 SX-18 and have a couple of comments. The Smart Tabs transformed my boat - very seriously consider them. As the previous poster commented, make sure that your aluminum prop isn't dinged up as that will have a huge impact on performance. The aluminum three blade on my boat is 14 1/4" x 21 pitch. My engine cover has no support system and is a P-I-T-A. Let me know what you come up with.

Thanks for the comments. I really appreciate them. Phorida, which Smart Tabs did you go with? The 80's or 60's? From what I've read on the forums, it looks as though I need the 60's even though I believe that a 19' boat will call for the 80's.

As for an engine lift cover setup, I am going to try and find some kind of gas shock or something that will hold it up. Looking at the piano hinge, it appears that it had to be reinforced at one time and my guess is that it was dropped and put too much stress on the hinge and wood. Not to mention that you have to lift the engine cover to access the storage under the rear seats. Guess we will put things we won't need often under there.

I'll let you know how it goes..

Dave -

I just looked up my order - the part number of mine was NAU-SX9510-60-BL which appear to be the 60lb version. I just noticed that they cost me $104 which is a really inexpensive upgrade. They took about an hour or so to install.

You should also note that I have the 3.0l engine - your SX-19 more than likely has the 4.3l.

Phlorida,

That is true, I have the 4.3L. It will be a couple of months before I tackle this project so I have some time to figure out which size. There are alot of topics on the Smart Tabs, so it shouldn't be too difficult to determine. So far I am loving this site for the helpful information. Can't wait to check it out more and become more involved.

Call Nauticus and get an opinion from them. Someone posted on the site where Nauticus recommended one size and then swapped them out for free when they proved to be too much tab. I don't usually push recommendations too hard but this one is a no-brainer. I would try the boat out with the Smart Tabs before I invested too much into a new prop.
