i feel for ya mate :( We've all had that happen to us at one time or another.

Let's hope it's just the prop that requires repair/replace & that you didn't bend a prop shaft. Does your boat have a built in depth finder? If not, it's a good investment. Not sure if you have depth charts available for the lakes etc that you might boat on but if you can source one they're also money well spent.

Thats terrible news Mayal, I really feel for you, so very dissapointing.
As Mike said, if you can get a chart of the lake or information from others that use the lake, to avoid these annoying problems, that would be a great idea.
Cant wait to see your pics.
Good luck with the repairs mate.

New prop

Hey Dudders, Got my new prop ordered will arrive on Friday to top it all off I bought a second hand one for $100 while we waited for the new one, but only lasted about 10 minutes and then the bush broke because it had been sitting for so long and had to idle back to shore once again . Got my money back for that one. Took boat boat to Mercury for a check up no more damage other than the prop at least that was a win. :wink_thumbup:. I had talked to all the locals on the lake and they could not believe we hit anything where we were just unlucky i guess.. I have charts but no sounder you know what I will be bying for christmas. Cheers Mayal and Nicole

A wise old Captain once told me
"There are 2 types of boaters. 1 that has run a ground, and 1 that will run a ground" I won't tell you which one I am.:head_on_wall:

Hi Dudders and family, How was your christmas and new year. Ours was great we took a crew tubing for the morning and had chrissy dinner/lunch at home. Sorry we have been away and the lap top sh#t it's self. We are going to try and up load some pics tonight see how we go lap top still not good. Anyway the sx18 is just perfect for us. We just finished running her in and got 52 miles an hour on flat water and four people on board, not bad I say. New prop and sounder are just great even got a spare prop sitting under the back seat. Rebuilt the first one. We are off to the Whitsundays on Saturday for two weeks with no kids for the first time in 15 years. Just sun, sand and our beautiful new Mariah, can't wait. The only problem we have had so far is the hour meter stopped working. The dealer is sending us a new one. So to anyone else who may read this, buy your Mariah and buy it now. A belated merry x-mas and a happy new year to you and your family. From Mayal and Nicole.

Gidday Mayal, Happy New Year, going to the Whitsundays on the boat, you lucky bugger, what a beautiful place to spend 2 weeks. For all the "non aussie" Mariah owners, you just got to check out the Whitsundays on google, it is absolutely magnificent, gods own water play ground.
Sorry to hear you had a couple of little hiccups with your prop, but all ok now.
My computer at home s*&t itself also (more like me installing more ram that wasnt compatible and that kind of helped :head_on_wall:)
Take lots of pics and make our American/Canadian friends jealous.
Have fun, talk to you in a couple of weeks. Dont forget to slip slop slap.

One more sx18 on Aussie waters

Picked up our new 2008 sx 18 last Friday.
Took it out on the the Hawkesbury from Brooklyn up to Ettalong Beach on Sunday, she went like a dream. We wanted to take her out today but the weather in Sydney is crap.:( The dealer said he is selling plenty of Mariah's so I hope to see more of them out on the water. Got an all over custom made cover for it yesterday, decided on yellow to match the boat, looks awesome except it was pouring rain when it was fitted & I couldn't tell at the time until after the cover people had left & the rain had eased that the cover is two different yellows & possibly two different materials, one half seems to bead the water much better than the other. To say the least I was not impressed after forking out $1450. I rang the cover company owner as soon as I spotted the problem & hopefully he will sort things out soon. Will upload some pictures soon.

dudders 01-19-2008 03:38 AM

Whoa, thats a LOT of dosh for a cover and it not being perfect. I would be enormously pissed off.
Glad to hear that you enjoyed you day on the Hawkesbury, I would love to take a trip up that river, would be beautiful.
Put some pics on the site as soon as you can to make all them Northerners jealous :wink_thumbup:

mikeyt 01-19-2008 04:53 PM

Hey Shilo, been away holidaying in the whitsundays. Let me know how your cover works out. Got some quotes in Cairns from $1200 to $1500. Can you let me know what material they used for yours and what denier canvas or vinyl they used. Great to see another Mariah in Aus ours has been just perfect. Big sons birthday tomorrow so we are going up to the lake nice and hot. Sorry you winter bound boaties. We have tried to upload some photos however our computer want's to send them in large format and they won't send. will try and sort it out soon. Happy boating mayal and Nicole

Cover OK

Hey Mayal, cover seems to have good. It was raining when they came out & made it, once it dried it was all the same colour & has been OK since. The bloke said see how it goes for a while & if I'm not happy with it he will make me up a new one. The material used was Sunbrella, apparantly the best product on the market. Taking our son & his mates out for his 22nd next weekend on Sydney Harbour, took it over to Manly last weekend, a bit choppy but pleased how well she cut through the water. Came up to Cairns & travelled down to Hervey Bay last year but never got to Whitsundays :( maybe next time. Finally downloaded some pics on the Hawkesbury last week will try to get some of Sydney Harbour.

For Mayal to drive so far for his new Mariah SX18. I would say a fair deal for his effort. Congrats Mayal, enjoy !.
