Our First Boat
 

Hi!
My name is Kirk. I grew up around boats and at the beginning of this year my wife and I talked about getting our own boat but, did not know if we wanted to make the committment and decided to purchase a waverunner. After having a lot of fun on our waverunner, we realized that there was not enough room for the whole family so, we decided to look for a boat. After searching Craig's list and several other web sites, we fell in love with the Mariah boats. After looking at several boats, we ended up with a 2001 250 Shabah. We have already started making improvements such as a hard buff and replacing the rear sundeck and the rear seat. The lady doing the upholstery can even match the Mariah stitiching in the headrest which is really neat since we want to keep it original. It is not a Z boat but, it still has a lot of options. Just too bad we purchased it late in the year and that we have to put it in stoage and wait until Spring. But, it will give us something to look forward too this winter. This website I found when I was googling Mariah boats. I have read many of the threads and found the information very useful. I plan on upgrading my membership soon. I am sure I will have lots of questions. I have always restored classic cars and trucks but, this is my first boat.

Hi Kirk,

I did the same thing you did. I grew up with a Four Winns and purchased a Ski Nautique in my twenties. I sold my Nautique to buy my first house in 96'. I got married and had two kids. My kids are already nine and seven. I decided it's time to teach them to ski.

I also searched Craigslist and was attracted to Mariah boats as well. I purchased a 95 Z202 Shabah and found this forum. We'll get used to the website together. I look forward to your threads.

Congradulations on your Mariah boat purchase and welcome to the club! I'm also a new member, and similar to you, We purchased ours a bit late in the season, but look forward to taking her out when we can and also working on projects to keep her looking good and running good (I'm one of those crazy people that like to wax my boat! :) )


The stories I read about Mariah owners are so similar to our story. I've been boatless for over 13 years and once my family and I descided to finally purchase a boat, the search was on. We looked at so many boats I couldn't see straight! Then, while on craigslist, we found a Mariah and said "wow, that looks like a really nice boat!". Did some research to learn about Mariah, then it happened; we found one that caught our attention and that was it! We couldn't stop thinking about it!!!!

Again, Welcome!!!! I'm sure you'll enjoy this site and find it really usefull as I have since owning our Mariah. Look forward to pictures of your new family member!!! :)

Help-Please!
I have been trying to post pictures of our boat but no luck. I followed the directions but, maybe I am messing something up. Being that I am a silver member, I listed the year and model of the boat and thought I was suppose to wait for some type of approval but, somewhat confused. Please Help!!

Kirk and Lori - My wife and I just purchased a 2000 shabah 182 and it is too late in the northeast to use it! We are looking forward to spring and will use the winter to brush up on the details of this boat and search the best places to take it come spring. We can't wait to get it in the water.
