New Owner, Old Boat
 
Hello Mariah Lovers, my name Is Jay and last week I traded a 93, 170 Sea Ray (bought new 16 yrs ago!) for a 95, 240 Talari (one owner boat out of the great state of Texas).
We needed more room and I needed more power. Boy did we get it! Seven more feet of boat and 300HP.
I'll be picking your collective brains for repair tips as I bring this beauty back up to what it should be.
I would love to hear from any Talari owners here about things to watch for.

Hi Jay,

I here ya, moved up from a '84 18.5' SeaRay to a '96 Z240 Talari w/ same HP and what a difference. Just be careful of the top speed, it's a tad bit faster than the 170 so you cover more water faster, but at the same time because of the size and weight, she doesn't feel quite as nimble, but watch it, at the right speed and conditions, the Talari can turn on a dime if your not careful :eek_animated:.

Congrats on your upgrade!! I moved up from a 91 Sea Ray 180 to my Z250. Definitely a change, but I actually feel my Z250 is a bit more maneuverable! WetWilly's right, watch turning at high speeds! Oh yeah, and one thing you'll learn quickly, the 300+HP engines just LOVE gas :D

I appreciate the welcome, thanks. I already know what you mean about the gas, I topped it off on the way home from the dealer and it took 25 gal. That was the whole tank on the Sea Ray. Oh well, being from Illinois I sure know the phrase "pay to play"
Am I correct that the 240 Talari capacity is 65 gal? If so, anything under $3.00/gal will stay under $200! oh boy! Now all I need is a new job before it needs a fill up. :worry_to_laugh:

Hi jgreen, better sit down....

Our tanks are the same and they are rated for 76 gallons, so even a fill-up @ $2.70 per gal is still going to set you back over a couple of bills... :eek_animated:

Yah I saw the 76 gal spec. Guess we'll see how bad the fuel burn gets and learn to live with it.
I did find a way to save last weekend. Saturday was crappy, so we put the bimini up and sat on the boat drinking beer on the trailer. Zero gas burn and only a couple of neighbors think I'm nuts.
