Questions about 1998 Z202 Shabah

Hello All,
This forum looks like the most informative website regarding Mariah Boats. My wife and I found a Z202 Shabah on boat trader, and I am going to go look at the boat this weekend. There isn't a whole lot of info on Mariah boats out there, particularly on a 1998 Z202. This boat looks really clean and only has 77 original hours.
I have been reading your threads about Mariah being sold in 2001. Not a big deal. I saw a newer Mariah two weekends ago and it looked sooo nice that I began looking for a used Mariah online.
Does anyone have an opinion on the Alpha Drive vs the Bravo Drive?

The asking price for this boat is $15,995 which looks pretty high to me. There aren't any other Z202's to compare this boat against so it is hard to see if this price is realistic. NADA avg on this boat is around $9,700. When you see the pics, this boat is really really clean, so NADA is hard to apply.

I would really love any comments about the Z202. It looks like, and I haven't been able to verify, but is there a big difference between the Z202 and the 202?

Looking forward to hearing from you--Wes

Hello possible z202 Shabah Owne and welcome to the club!

Both the Alpha and Bravo are great outdrives, the Bravos are heavy duty outdrives normally used on the more powerful motors. The Alpha is rated to 300HP and will provide you with many years of service. My last boat had an Alpha and I used it for over 20+ years without a problem.

Since the "Z" models were outfitted with "alot" of additional options, I'll just paste the list from the '98 brochure, hope you can read it:

After reviewing the listing pictures, I came up with $10,135.00 for the average retail on NADA. This Z202 has the optional Silent Choice exhaust setup, docking lights, trim gauge and various covers that I added in for the NADA price. Looks like there is about
$1200 between the low and average so figure another $1200 for high retail so that comes out around $11335, add in a trailer (NADA does not include the price of the trailer in it's listing), you can figure on a couple of grand more if it's a tandem trailer in real good shape and you come out near $13335.

I would try to negotiate the price down if you can, even though she looks extremely clean, $16000 just sounds too high.

Good luck,

WetWilly

Re: Questions about 1998 Z202 Shabah

Wet Willy,

I really appreciate you getting back to me on the Z202. I went an looked at the boat on Friday 7/10. The dealer had already taken a deposit from someone else and the Mariah is being picked up on 7/13. I'm a little disappointed, but the boat was not nearly as clean as what the pix showed on Boat trader. Apparently they have sold this particular boat for just over $15K. That is more than I would have paid after seeing the actual condition. Too bad because I really believe Mariah builds a quality boat.
Good luck to you in the future,

Wes
