2001 Shabah 222 HIN Tag
Hi, I am new to the Mariah Owners Club. I am looking at a 2001 Shabah 222 BR. that I want to buy, the boat looks to be in real good condition, has 214 hours on the 5.7 litre/Alpha 1 and the guy is asking $13,000.00 but in inspecting the boat I noticed the HIN Tag is attached with two philips head screws not rivets and the numbers on the tag are smooth, not raised or indented as to allow for a rubbing of the HIN numbers for the Texas PWD 504 form. Is this method of attachment and type tag typical for the older Mariah boats?

Re: 2001 Shabah 222 HIN Tag
No, that's not typical. The HIN number should be stamped in the fiberglass on a corner of the transom (outside the boat).
I'd look into that a little further. Something sounds fishy. Sounds like a nice boat, though! |
Re: 2001 Shabah 222 HIN Tag
I've never seen one attached in the manner you say it is. I can suggest one other thing. Send the HIN to one of our members (95 Z240 Talari) via Private Message and ask him if he can look it up for you. He has access to the original build information along with when/where it was originally shipped to. See if the information he supplies matches up with the boat you are looking at.
