Hello from Arizona

Hello all,

Stumbled onto the site this morning while searching Yahoo for Mariah parts. Looks like a lot of good info here that will help in keeping my 1995 Mariah Z240 Talari in top shape.

Bought my Mariah brand new in 1996...local dealer here (Action Marine) had bought out the inventory from a defunct California dealer. Wheeled and dealed and was able to grab it for $26,000, a great deal at the time. Got him to throw in custom sunshark travel cover, sunbrella cockpit covers and sunbrella bimini from Westland's local custom shop.

Anyways, I shopped around for about a year...by far the best boat (and deal) out there. Having had it for 13 years, I am more convinced than ever. I still get compliments at the dock. 4th boat I've owned and by far, the best.

Thought I'd list some of the mods I've completed on her over the years to get things started:
[LIST]Added side bunks to the trailer. Drive on/off by myself with no problems.[LIST]Prop is Aerostar Power Pitch (shifts from 17 to 21 pitch when it reaches plane). Boat is fast out of the hole. I originally paid $1,000 in 96 but they're outrageously priced these days ($2,000 and $600 for set of blades).[LIST]I added bimini top extension (Arizona Bimini) to cover the complete back of the boat.[LIST]Added engine compartment fire extinguisher, manual pull on passenger bulkhead and discharge alarm.[LIST]Added marine radio and antenna.
  • Added gasoline fume detector and alarm.
  • Added second battery, on-board trickle charger, battery isolator and manual battery switch.
  • Added Silent Choice/Corsa thru-hull exaust.
  • Added Bennett Sport Trim Tabs.
  • Added Bennett Auto Tab leveling system.
  • Added speakers on the swim platform and bow-seating area, upgraded to stereo/CD/MP3 player.
  • I replaced the driver and passenger pedestals to allow extra height.
  • Added midship cleats.
  • Added cleats for bumpers.
  • Added 36" Taylor Stainless Steel Flag Staff on transom.
  • Replaced black aluminum rub rail with rubber insert to black rubber with stainless insert.
  • Replaced original hatch lifters with Bennett Hydraulic Hatch Lifting system.
  • Replaced white plastic Barnegat docking lights with Stainless I found on EBay.
  • Replaced yellowed transom shower with new unit I found on EBay.
  • Installed latch on anchor hatch cover (tired of it flying open all the time).

Just replaced the batteries a couple of weeks ago...was thinking about Optima's but could justify the cost. With that, a change of plugs and oil this coming weekend and we're off the lake!

Re: Hello from Arizona

Welcome aboard Scott! You've been a busy boater over the years

and you're making me jealous with that talk of being on the water soon..... we're still waiting for the Polar bears to migrate further north so that we can come out of our homes. ;)

Welcome to the board Scott! Sounds like you've done some great add ons, and many of these are problems our members face, and additions they'd like to do, so if you can, post some pics of your modifications! :wink_thumbup:

Scott-

When are you going to post a few pictures of your various projects. I have the same boat and am intrigued.
