Proud New Owner

I am new to the boating business and after countless hours of going to look at and see all makes models and brands of boat i have decided to go with the Mariah. I am very new to boating and even newer to Mariah. Before i bought it i have never even heard of this brand but obviously i liked them enough to pick it out over all the others.

Question i havent seen any other Mariah owners on this site with a boat like i bought. Could you tell me first off if a 1993 198Z Shabah model even exist? Thats what i was lead to believe this boat is. Im pretty sure it is the Shabah. Can any one tell me about that year and style if it exist? Thanks that would be greatly appriciated. I dont have any pics right now it is in storage but should be able to snap a few soon i hope.

Ahoy Irace82,

Glad to have you aboard and you're not alone, all of us here feel the same about our Mariahs!

Now about your Mariah, yes, in 93 it was listed as the 198 Shabah Z. She's 19' 10" long, 92" wide and weighs in around 2600lbs. So when you have a some time, tell us more it and as soon as you have any pictures of your Mariah, feel free to upload them to our gallery. For a tutorial on uploading to our gallery, Click here.

We have a growing library of information including the history and making of a Mariah so you can get more acquainted with your Shabah Z, manuals, most brochures including 1993, wiring diagrams, and all sorts of information relevant to your Mariah, the stern drives and equipment. All of these are available to our contributing members. Click here to see what each level has to offer.

We also have a Member Map, so take some time to stick your pin on it. Here's a tutorial on adding your pin: Click here

Since your new to boat ownership you might find a checklist helpful, I've attached an excellent one at the bottom of this post, it was created by dudders, one of our members from down under! Click on the file, it should open but if it doesn't, then it probably downloaded to your PC, in which case, you may need to search your system to locate the file. Let me know if it gives you any trouble!

If you need any help getting around the Forum, just shout,
WetWilly

Would it be possible for anyone to tell me what the Z model options included for the 1993 Shabah? I believe mine is the Z model and the previous owner also believed it was the Z but i have looked and cannot find anything to help me figure out what options those included to see if mine is in fact a Shabah Z. Thanks again any help would be helpful. Great site by the way! Lots of information and very welcoming and warm reception by all. Definitely proud to join the "club."

Ahoy Irace82 and we're glad to have you aboard!

Per the brochure, for 93, the Shabah 198 Z came with the following items the standard Shabah didn't have:

1) Windshield Defogger/Power Vent ( this is the most obvious, driver side powered dash vent facing up to the winshield)
2) Stainless Steel Rope Chocks
3) Stainless Steel Flush mount transom light
4) Stainless Steel Ashtrays w/covered lids (3)
5) Dash lighting dimmer switch

These are items that were standard on the "Z" model but optional on the standard:

1) Bow Hull Lights
2) Hour Meter
3) Built-in Richie Compass
4) Built-in digital depth sounder w/alarm
5) Driver side windshield wiper

Well there you have it, hope I didn't give you information overload... :D

Re: Proud New Owner

Well just bought the boat not to long ago and im sure all of you know how it is to buy or have a boat in the winter and not be able to use it. Like i said i purchased it and even my machanic took it for an extensive test drive and checked everything out and everything is in good shape no problems there. The only problem i have is i still havent even been on the water in it yet and it is killing me! I was not able to be there when he was test driving it so i have still yet to get behind the helm! Such a long long wait till boating season!

Ouch, that's rough! :) Just look on the bright side, only a couple months 'til you can start enjoying it yourself!! It'll be worth the wait.
