'Need 1996 Z275 SHABAH Operator's Manual (I think)

Hello everyone, I was thrilled to find your club today!

I am looking for a 1996 Z275 SHABAH Operator's Manual. I have the 180 page "OWNER'S MANUAL - Boating Basics and Safety Rules and Regulations" but this book does not cover specifics with regard to control panel switches. I need to know what each switch operates on all of the instrumentation panels in the boat.

I've owned the Mariah since 1998 but, until recently, I have not needed this knowledge, my husband "knew everything" about our Mariah and I depended on his knowledge. Sadly, my husband is gone and this is no longer the case. I desperately need this info since I do not know what switches to use to operate everything in the boat. I can't even figure out how to turn on the accessories in the cuddy cabin (i.e. tv, stereo, microwave, lights, etc.) or the boat's running lights! I've flipped all kinds of switches in both the cockpit and the cuddy cabin to no avail. Can someone help me plz? "Cin-cerely," Cinnamon

I think this will help. First welcome to the club. As for a manual on the switches if you go to the donate icon on the top of the page and become a contributing member we have all sorts of owners manuals and repair manuals for the specific mariahs. Hopefully wet willy will chime in and give you more detail on all the reading materiel we have but hope this helps. :)

Hi Cinnamon and again, welcome to the club!

dwmax is correct, as a contributing member, you would have access to a growing library of manuals, brochures, wiring diagrams, and all sorts of great information including the stern drives and equipment. Click here to see what each level has to offer.

As for the switches, the manual doesn't list the individual switches for any particular model but I'm sure we can help you identify each one and what it does. The switches should be labeled just above each switch in the black plastic strip running across each bank. they should also light up when the Nav light switch is on. So go ahead and ask away if you need any help.

If you have any pictures of the dash and switches, that would help too! If you need help posting them, click here for a tutorial.

Dear WetWilly,

Thank you for your reply. I've already e-mailed Chris at "Donate" and sent him a list of all the documentation I have.

You mentioned that each switch should light up when the Nav light switch is on but that's one of the switches I can't find. LOL Yes most, if not all, of the switches are "labled" but some of the labels are greek to me and then there are those that are identified as "Acc" (accessories, I think, but which ones, I haven't got a clue?). Then there is the problem with the cuddy cabin equipment (i.e. the electronics have no power. The black switch panel on the cuddy cabin wall seemed to indicate that battery 4 was not working so to be certain I went out and bought 4 new marine batteries. Nothing changed tho and the electronics still do not work.

Adding to all this confusion is that on 1/12/2007 the dock where it was moored (on my boat lift) collapsed during an ice storm doing over $24,000 in damages. The repairs took 18 months to "complete" but I'm finding that all repairs have not been completed correctly and I'm afraid that perhaps some of these difficulties may be the result of inaccurate repairs.

Your suggestion about pictures sounds like an excellent idea and as soon as I can take some of all the control panels I shall do so and post them.

Once again, thank you.

Hi Cinnamon,

First off, sorry to here of your incident last year and unfortunately, you maybe right in your suspicions that some of your problem could be directly related to the repairs. Good news is, we have a great team of trouble shooters here at the club and we’ll do everything we can to get your Shabah in tip top condition!

As for the lights, I believe this is a picture of your dash layout with two sets of rocker switch banks flanking the steering wheel (sorry for the tiny pic):

http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h2...272CCdash2.jpg
To the lower left of the steering wheel there are two round knobs below the bank of four rocker switches. These should be, from left to right, the three position Nav/Dash/Stern - off - Stern only light switch and the other knob is the dimmer which should rotate smoothly about 300 degrees. The knob for the lights should light up then moved to the left or right of center only and the dimmer does not light up at all.

All your gauges and lighting labels only work when the light switch is in the Nav/Dash/Stern position. This can be confirmed as the Bow Nav and the Stern lights will be on together in this position.

Each rocker switch bank is illuminated along the bottom strip with each switch’s function, in addition, each rocker switch also lights up red when in the “on” position.

Well hopefully this will get you started and I'll be waiting for the pictures.

Good luck,
WetWilly

Yes, the picture does look like my dash.
Just as soon as I can I'll uncover the boat and snap some pics to get off to you.

Thanks again!
