back to the power steering problem.

I looked at the hose and it is the same as a new one. I replaced it anyway, but it is still blowing a hole in the same spot. There isnt a boat shop around my area that has a clue what is causing the problem. If anyone has any information. Please help. It looks like I am overchallenged at this point.

Hi mickey,

What I don't understand is why is seems like you're getting high pressure on the low pressure side. the only things I can think of at the moment that could cause a condition like this is :
(1) The high and low pressure hoses are connected wrong at the pump, but I doubt that, as the fitting are different coming out of the pump, correct?
(2) The pump is defective and trying to send pressure out both fitting, doubt this one as well.
(3) The hoses are connected up wrong at the steering ram and/or the assembly is bad sending high pressure straight into the low pressure return line. I like this one the best...

Now, as to why it blows in the same spot, maybe this hose is rated lower that the low pressure hose from the ram or is it rubbing against something?
