I bought my first boat, a 1996 Talari 220, last Fall after the season ended. It needed some work so we’re just getting out on the water recently. I’m really glad I found this site to help with questions and share experiences.

Welcome. If you are a member of Facebook and haven't already done so, i would suggest joining both of the Mariah Owners groups there as they are far more active than this website.

A Z282 ???

Speedo issues are usually due to the pitot tube in the outdrive becoming blocked by debris or corrosion. There are plenty of online videos showing how to correct this issue with a small drill bit or piece of wire. Another option is to remove the pitot tube from the back of the speedo itself and then using a small compressor, blow air back thru the line towards the outdrive. Most times that will dislodge the blockage.

A malfunctioning petrol gauge is usually due poor / corroded connections at the fuel sender unit. Fuel sender unit is mounted on top of the fuel tank in front of the engine. IF you clean them up & re-attach the connections and it still doesn't work then you likely need a new fuel sender unit. They're relatively simple to remove & replace as long as you get the correct ohm (33 - 240 ?) unit.

Just as a little further information, if you are on Facebook i would suggest joining both of the Mariah Owners groups on that platform. They are far more active than this website.
