1998 Z222 first boat

Hello,

So excited to have found this group. I bought my first boat and kinda on a whim. So that being said I知 learning still.

Found my 1998 Z222 5.7 Mer/BIII with captions call in SC and original trailer. I知 3rd owner. 2nd owner had it for 12/13 years. Always covered and under a car port. Was in decent condition I thought for the age.

Put in the water yesterday for a test and it went well until it was time to put it back on the trailer. The Winch strap broke. I知 going to have a mechanic look over it. In wake zone I put into minimal gear fwd and it wanted to take off. Not sure if it should idol that fast. Horn doesn稚 work, nor radio. I知 learning all the controls. Wish their was a beginner video of someone walking through everything on this model. While I know it should be self explanatory, I知 a Nubie!!

So a couple things to fix I suppose.

Horn & radio not working is likely the result of a bad ground. The fuse panel is up underneath the driver's console against the hull. I'd suggest disconnecting the battery then removing each fuse and clean the connections thoroughly. Moisture & electrics dont always like each other.

As for the winch strap, just buy & install a new one. It's likely 22-23 yrs old and has gotten a bit brittle/rotted.

Your engine should idle around 800 rpm.

Here's a bit of info from the 1998 brochure for you.

Btw.... if you are on Facebook, be sure to join both of the Mariah Owners groups there. They are both far more active than this website.
