Default New Member and need suggestions

Hi Everyone,

New member here and loving all the awesome info. on this site. You guys have already been super helpful with some things.

I just purchased a 2000 Mariah 214 Jubilee. I really like the boat but need to fix a few small things before I can say it's 100% ready to go back out on the water. Today I started working on the alternator and confirmed it's dead.

Where I can I order one of these or can I go down to my local auto store and get one since it's a GM engine? I have two numbers on the alternator. One is on a sticker and that number is 48083. The other is a casting on the alternator and that number is 7021. I've searched all over the internet and called a few local boat shops in town but I can't seem to find what I thought would be an easy thing.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Assuming you have a Mercruiser engine, any Mercruiser dealer or marine vendors like West Marine etc can sell you a proper marine alternator. I know some owners have installed regular alternators etc in their boats but a boat alternator has been 'marinized' to protect against sparks etc which isn't a good thing in an enclosed space on a boat.

Assuming you have a 1999 Mercruiser 5.7 EFI you have either a Delco https://www.mercruiserparts.com/8620...lternator-assy
    or a Mando https://www.mercruiserparts.com/807653t-alt-assy-black.
I use sites such as these to find the Merc part number and then shop online for best price.
