Wife and I have owned our Z308 "Good Chi " for 15 years. Lots of modifications to include extending the swim platform almost 3 ft. Love the boat and just now in the middle of removing the twin 5.7 motors Alpha's due to transom plate gasket leaks. Fun Fun!! Love to here from any other Z308 owners who have or have not done mods.

I've got a 93 240Z and we discovered after our engine replacement that we have a pretty significant transom leak...my mechanic quoted me $5K to pull motor and repair the transom. He suggested as an alternative to continue to patch the drive/transom interface with silicon each season...but frankly it isn't working all that well. Fortunately we have the boat in the rack at the marina when it isn't being used. I'm considering doing the work myself as an off season project.

Take look at my post "Z308 Redo". Bottom line is that I was thinking about using 3m 4200 to seal around the out drive (I hate silicone below the water line). Then decided that If I'm going to fix something on my boat, I want to do it right. Glad I did. when pulling the intermediates and transom plates, I found I also had water leaks from the tiller arm seals. It's all fixed now and Zero water in leaking in the bilge. I'm sorry for you that you didn't go that extra step when you did the engine replacement. I'm surprised that your mechanic did not suggest it. Good luck on however you decide to tackle the problem. I
