Talari Z240 stress cracks in hull below water line
Good day all!! I'm a noob here from the true north east New York (practically Canada.) I've had numerous Chaparral boats but always liked Mariah and wanted an open bow. They are nearly impossible to find around here. So I happened to be browsing craigslist and found this 94 Talari z240 on a 2013 aluminum double axle sea lion trailer. Boat is in good shape minus the oxidation (no big deal I can handle that.) Drive 3 hours yesterday to look at it guy keeps it in the water. He said let's go for a drive so we do for almost an hour. Boat runs flawlessly 5.7l mag alpha 1 ( I know a big block would be nice.) It is a second boat to my 89 Chaparral 2350SX 7.4L bravo one so i dont need sport, i want something i can cruise maybe 35mph tops but take a few extra people comfortably on. Interior is good floor is solid all seats are good except 1 of the bow cushions the seem is just starting to seperate. Called the marina that did the work (Sheps) they said new well maintained from older gentleman whom was the second owner and has had it 6 years (stories line up to seller.) Last year bellows were done as well as fuel pump, shift cable, and water separator. Get there drive it all is good settle on a price and leave with it. Get home get the first layer of crud off and notice SEVERAL small "stress cracks." Now I'm a little concerned. Check the engine seems to be no play. Check the transom and seems solid with a hammer. Check the transom from the inside as much as I can see and looks good so check with a flat headed screwdriver and seems dry. Motor mounts seem to be solid by tapping on them. Can't really see the stringers anywhere on the inside as every floor compartment is all lined with wood and carpet which all seems solid and dry as well as the ski locker floor. I essentially paid for the engine and trailer so I'm not complaining I didn't have it inspected because of the price and condition it appeared to be in and lack of inspectors in the area (none lol.) Is this a somewhat normal thing? Anyone else on here have similar issue? My local boat dealer can't get to mine until next week and has always done me right but I am a concerned motorist at this point. I really REALLY like this boat as well it is comfortable as my Chaparral (seats may be a one up on the Chap.) I took a couple pics but at the moment am having issues uploading them.
