Default New mariah owner from France

Hi,

Seems that i have to introduce myself a little bit !

I'm a 35yo guy from France (sorry) and i just grab a 1993 Mariah. I'm totaly new in boating, coming from sport cars, bikes etc etc...

The mariah boats are very very rare in France !
The boat comes from Belgium and i'm pretty sure the previous owner has been on this forum.
I think this boat has traveled a lot, don't know the story but i think it's not stock at all... On the papers it's a 1993 sx21 with a 350 mag carbureted, but i believe it doesn't exist.

As i will do all maintain and repair with a friend, i'm mostly here for technical information. I won't lie telling you that i'm a bit disapointed with the total lack of documentation in the dedicated section for older models like my 93... But don't worry i'm a kind man and i'm sure i will find kind people here to help me a bit, and maybe i can help too !

And excuse my fr'english ;-)

Welcome to the club! Not sure what info you are looking for but contributing members have access to more detailed info like wiring diagrams and the like. It is how this site stays up and running. There are some very knowledgeable people here that can help you with all kinds of stuff. Post a picture of your boat so we can see one in France. Enjoy

    Hi !

I'm looking for electrics... essentially diagrams... My baby seems to have been seriously maintained, on the mechanics, but electric "comfort" features are mostly KO... i mean lights, horn, lowrance deepth gauge, electric seats (think only the buttons are present...)

Most of these things are not important, but you know i'm the typical 100% stock collector guy.
Before buying the mariah i was looking at an early 80's glastron 194 for a complete restoration project.

As i've just read the 1993 brochure, i think my boat is a 212 shabah ZS (not open at the front) !
If i'm right, that mean that i have even more things to repair (if possible) than i thought.

Well the wiring color codes are in the contributing members section. Only $10 for a year to help a great site. Boat looks nice hull side

Welcome to the club! Very cool to see a Mariah so far from where it was made. Good luck on your restoration. Most of the stuff you mentioned becomes a problem on boats that age (mine is a 99 and has/had similar things to fix). There is a ton of great information here and helpful members. What part of France are you from? I had the pleasure of visiting your country a few times while serving in the Navy.

    Hi !

I lives in Auvergne, near Clermont Ferrand, the city Michelin tires come from.
The boat will run on a barrage lake... And maybe go to Mediterranean sea if i have long enough holidays.

    Already fixed :
    - horn
    - FM speakers and radio
    - instruments lights
    - interior lights
    - windscreen blower
    - halogen spots for deck lights (GE H7604)

on the to do list :
    - Hull : just repair the bad traces of past "beaching" tentatives with rocks
    - check engine blower and switch (!!!! should have been done 1st )
    - repair depthfinder ( ??? can't find the immerged senser)
    - see for a custom electric seat actuator
    - see for a custom hatch power lifter
    - repair and put a dedicated switch for exhausts
    - transom lights (i have a switch so...)
    - Put a white 360 nav light

Maybe i should do a new thread for that !

I think you'll find the transducer for the depth gauge is glued on inside of the hull, about midship. It should be a round puck about the size of a hockey puck. I doubt it has gone bad. Maybe the epoxy has let go.
Maybe new threads on each problem would be a good idea. Just be very specific of what the problem is.
Is the gauge not working at all?

Can't say I've been that far inland, but did visit Marseille and Tarragona and Cannes. We were in Cannes for Bastille Day and also the Film Festival. It was awesome, beautiful country and the people were very kind to us as well. This was back in 97, so a few years ago! Anyway again welcome to the club. Sounds like you are well on your way to getting everything fixed you should be able to find any information needed here. la navigation de plaisance heureux! (Hope that translated correctly)
