New Mariah owner
 

Just to make it official and wanted to say hi. After selling my Sea Ray 185br 4 years ago when our son was born we were finally ready for a new boat.

After searching for what seemed like forever and missing a couple nice boats I found a 1996 180 shabah that looked pretty good. Made the 3 hour drive to check her out and decided to bring her home.

The boat has the 4.3 4bbl and had low hours, previous owner was a 70 y/o guy that didn't take her out much. Exterior is in good shape with a few small nicks that I will touch up. Interior is clean and original but does have some cracking so I will be taking that on as a winter project.

First time we went out with my some friends, I wasn't too impressed with its ability to get up on plane. The previous owner had added a lift fin of some sort to the outdrive, removed that and decided to get a set of smart tabs. Luck would have it that my cabelas store had a new set in the bargain cave for $60.

Couldn't believe the difference. Got up on plane immediately, even with 3 adults and 5 kids aboard. Smoother in wake and chop, better low speed tracking and high speed Cornering. Absolutely a night and day difference.

Boat came with a really nice 2 piece factory cover, but unfortunately no Bimini top. Just found one locally and going to pick it up tonight.

So far very happy with the quality and performance of the boat and happy to be part of the Mariah family.

If you do a site search (top right corner of the screen) for Smart Tabs you will find all sorts of useful info as well as many owners singing their praise.
