new mariah owner
Ive had a boat all my life, but this is my first mariah, it is a 1998 viper red z242 with a 502 mag bravo three out drive. very excited about this boat . picking it up after a 2100 mile drive to get it! Any one know what top speed range I should expect. Im not sure what pitch the stainless props are yet. But will know when i see it in person on monday july 7. Is there a standard pitch for this set up ? The boat has 175 hrs on it so im pretty sure the props are the ones that came on it from the factory. Thx

Re: new mariah owner
Congrats Redz242. You are gonna love your Mariah. It will be built like no other boat you've ever owned.
I drove 2015 miles to get mine 5 years ago. I have the same motor you do in my Z302. As far as I know there was not a "standard" pitch setup on these boats as I still have my factory props and they seem to be different from others on here with similar engine/outdrive setups. Asking what top speed range you should expect is kind of an open-ended question as there are so many factors to take into account, and its especially difficult not knowing your prop pitch as that can make a HUGE difference. But, I remember being excited like you when I was waiting to go get mine, so I'll give you my 2 cents... I think that if the hull is in good shape, you've got calm water, with a 1/4 tank of fuel, and just 1 or 2 people on board etc., etc., etc... you could expect to be close to the 60mph range. |
Re: new mariah owner
well I took it out on courdelane lake which is about 2400 ft elevation 3/4 tank fuel, smooth water 2 250lbs passengers and that boat surprised me with a gps 64mph !!! The props are 28 pitch and it was pulling 4600 rpm. with some imco exhaust manifolds i will squek out another couple mph from her, fast boat!
