Gel Coat on 1994 Talari 180

I just joined the Mariah Owner's Club as a Platinum member last week and have really enjoyed reading everything. I bought a 1994 Mariah Talari 180. I knew nothing about Mariah's but liked the boat and trailer. I knew that the boat would have to be painted or refinished as there was oxidation from lack of care over the years. Upon closer inspection I noticed that that the previous owner had painted a small portion of the front side of the boat where the registration goes. It appears as though the gel coat has a transparent coating on it; almost like a varnish. Im looking for some direction on what I should do to bring the boat back to its full luster. I have carefully removed the remnants of the stickers from the boat being sure not to scratch it. Since some of the boat is missing a great deal of its clear coat (the white gelcoat above the Rubber trim line has very little), but the sides of the boat are only missing portions of the clear coat, I assume I have to strip the entire boat of its clear coat so that I can refinish the gelcoat. does anyone know what the best stripper to use would be? Any help is appreciated.
