vapor fan does not work

does anyone have o reason to why

Hi buzzard,

I assume you mean the blower to remove the fumes from the engine compartment, correct?

We call it a bilge blower and typically, there are three reasons it won’t work:

1) No power to the blower (fan) - Check the fuse/circuit breaker, switch and test for power (12V DC) through the circuit back to the blower. it could be just a loose connection.

2) No ground to the fan, again check for continuity from the blower back to the negative side of the battery.

3) The blower bearings may be frozen due to wear and/or rust. In this case, best to just replace the unit.

Hope this helps,
WetWilly

........and it's not something that you should ever start the motor without running first! You dont wanna go "BOOM" ......

This is a very easy replacement, if your bilge blower is broken. It's made by Attwood Marine, it's a "turbo" series with a 3" outlet. They are available at every Marine Supply store. Will cost you less than $50 to replace, and about 10 minutes of your time to reinstall.

DO NOT RUN YOUR BOAT WITHOUT FIXING THIS!!!

I had to replace mine they are very poor quality. I think it was a atwood or something like that. On mine the bearing was rusted.

Myself, I ALWAYS run my blower for a good 4mins+ before starting and occasionally turn it on when off plane for a long period of time (goin up a river). Plus the occasional time when inside a lock.

Follow what Willy has posted or have your marine mechanic take a look at it and have it fixed.

We would rather hear "boom" from stereos then "boom" from engines :)
