Gas Gauge Not Working
The gas gauge on my 2001 Mariah Diablo doesn't work at all. Any idea what might be wrong / how to resolve it? Would be nice to know if I'm running low on gas vs crossing my fingers.

Re: Gas Gauge Not Working
Generally speaking crossing your fingers (or anything else) doesn't work. I've found that when the engine stops for no obvious reason (ie i've turned the key off) that i may be out of fuel.
Now that the silliness is out of the way.... your gas tank is located under your floor near the stern of the boat. Just in front of the engine there should be a small flap (maybe 4-6" square) in the carpet that lifts up and reveals your fuel sender connections. More than likely one of those connections has gone kaput. Just make sure that any playing around back there is done in a well ventilated place.... and....here is a good explanation from "HudsonRiverSteve" on how to diagnose the problems with your fuel sender unit. |
