Cant raise Outboard drive with Trim Switch

First time boat owner in need of advise. During my spring start up-check out, i found that i could lower the outboard drive with the trim switch, but it Will Not Raise up.
Need some direction with troubleshooting. Could it be the trim switch ? The hydraulic unit works while lowering and is full of hydraulic fluid.
I couldnt even take the boat to a mechanic now because the outboard is fully lowered.
HELP. Thanks

Here you go CS. This should help you to diag the prob as well as learn a little more about the trim system.
Kudos to Mikeyt for this! :)

Have you tried to raise the outdrive with the trailer switch? Its usually located at the bottom of your throttle control.

mikeyt,
another member gave me a link to your troubleshooting post. Great info you supplied. I will run through these checks tonight. I did try the traler switch, but only under battery power- not with motor running.
I have no previous experience with boats- and no operations manual with boat, so I am glad i found this website and forum.
Thanks again for your help!!

ColoradoDiablo & i are the co-moderators here on this site so there is usually one of us around, along with a number of very helpful and knowledgeable members, to provide some guidance. Most of the time the problem comes down to connections that have deteriorated and aren't making clean contact. And if your battery is down a bit that tends to make the problem worse. I would start by taking apart the connections (1 at a time) at the trim motor, clean them & put them back together. Make sure you disconnect the battery first though or u could be in for a shocking surprise.... ;)

I totally agree with Mikey about the batteries not being fully charged and the bad grounds. I have fixed alot of stuff just by cleaning ground connections. I now have a Dremel with a sanding wheel that I keep onboard just for that reason.
