Reverse the effects of bottom painting?
When I first bought my boat I had it bottom painted after a few weeks cause I was keeping it docked all summer. For the last few years I've been towing it and I want to know if you guys/gals know of anyway to get that gel coat smoothness back to the bottom of the boat...like it was before I painted the bottom. Is there anyway to put a coat of wax over the bottom paint to smooth it out...or is this a lost cause? Any other idea's would be much appreciated.

Re: Reverse the effects of bottom painting?
There is a way to get the paint off, it is called Media Blasting. They basically use a sand blasting machine with a media that is softer than the gelcoat so it does not harm it but harder than the bottom paint so it gets it off. I dont know the cost but I have seen the results and it is incredible. I dont know if it will be be "Brand new shiny" but it gets the bottom paint fully off. Good luck!

Re: Reverse the effects of bottom painting?
Thanks Ggrims. I'll do some research on media blasting and might give it a shot at the end of the season.
