Gas tank replacement??
 

I have a '94 Talari 205 with Mercruiser 5.0L. My mechanic says my gas tank has corroded to the point it's not safe. Where the gas line enters the tank. A big wave or jolt could cause it to seperate. Does anyone know how to get a replacement? Are they even available? Any suggestions on installing an auxillary tank in the back next to the engine? We don't use it much so I don't really need a huge tank. Any suggestions appreciated.

I'm not very familiar with your model, so not sure how difficult it may be to replace the tank. You won't find an exact one unless you get a used one from someone parting out a boat, which doesn't happen often. I'm sure you can find a close fit, or may have to have a local weld shop build one. My understanding is the tanks are stainless steel, so I'm not sure how the corrosion got so bad there.
