Crazy theory but, would I need a 2nd alternator to power the radio and other accessories? Just replaced my Alternator last July.

No. Lots of us running more than one battery. Only one alternator.

That's what I thought. Same here. 2 batterys, one Alternator.

Thanks.

I assume you checked the fuse block. Because I had the EXACT same symptoms (radio dropping out at high volume and voltmeter fluctuation)

You normally don't run two alternators. It wouldn't be of any benefit. Alternators can be purchased in different current outputs.

Mine just did this last weekend... going to check the fuse block which is under the console but wondering if the OP ever solved the issue.

Re: Radio shutting off at high volume.

IF you are running some decent stereo equipment and other 'accessories' in your boat, a single battery and the stock Alternator just wont handle the power requirements over a period of time. I would suggest adding a 2nd battery with a switch control. One battery for starting the boat and one battery for all of the accessories.

And while you're at it, swap out those old halogen bulbs for LED's and reduce the current draw wherever possible.
