5.2 Earthquake in IL

Keep the earthquakes to your self!:yes_grin: We had a 5.2 at 4:30 last night here in IL. It woke everyone up and after shocks today. The center was in my home town 30mi away. It’s funny because my 13yr old daughter was asking if I thought there might be a quake in San Francisco when we come out in a couple weeks. She wanted to see what one was like. I don't think she liked it much! :very_scared: I don’t know if 5.2 is much but it’s all I want!:eek_animated: |

We get a few smaller quakes every now and then, most go unnoticed if they're smaller that a 5.0. The neighbors just figure my fat butt fell out of bed again! :rolling_laugh: Tell your daughter not to worry about coming to SF, we're not due for a big one for quit some time yet! :wink_thumbup: WetWilly |
Most go unnoticed if under 5.0?!?!?!?! That quake woke us from a dead sleep, bed was shaking, pictures rattling, house creaking, ...and we live in Indianapolis (150? miles away)!!!!!

We felt the quake here in Louisville Ky. I did not think it was a quake at the time due to me being asleep. The wife woke me up and I told her to go back asleep.
The last time we had a big quake here, the Ohio river flowed backwards for three days and Realfoot lake was formed. I have been told that we are over due for the big one here. If it happens, it won't be pretty. It will majorly affect 6 states. I try not to think about it and just enjoy boating with the family. Don't ever take any day for granted! |
