Boat cover purchase
Looks like I'm going to have to purchase a cover for mine. It came with one when I bought it, had a few holes, I patched and hand sewed them up. The rain came. I looked inside the boat the next mourning(misspelled on purpose) and you'd never known it had a cover on it. Today is day three of sitting in the sun and its still wet inside.
On to my question.....I'm looking at a Westland hydramax cover. It says its 100% polyester, 11.5 oz., 840 Denier and has a 7 yr warrantee. Anyone familiar with these? Its priced at 254 on sale at iboats. Sent from my SCH-I535 using Xparent ICS Tapatalk 2 |
Re: Boat cover purchase
I have not dealt with Westland , however the reviews I have read are usually good but some seem to have issues with fit.
It is a semi-custom fit so it isn't going to be a perfect fit. But being a "semi-custom" cover I would expect a good fit. Sounds like Iboats will accept a return , but it better be packaged as you got it if you return it. Plus they are talking a 15-25% restocking fee. Maybe some of the other members have personal experience with Westland covers :) Larry |
Re: Boat cover purchase
I bought the best Carver cover they make. Installed the vents with poled and just love it. Water just beads off like wax.
I bought mine thru Saavy Boater dot com. Shipped direct from Carver. Had a small issue. Carver sent a call tag, picked it up, fixed the issue and shipped it back within 3 days of it arriving there. |
Re: Boat cover purchase
We sell the Westland covers for older (pre-2002) Mariahs where we didn't do the canvas or covers.
They are good covers and do fit pretty close. Sunbrella is better than the polyester (we have these for 2002+), but hard to find on the original Mariahs ... You should get 5+ years (Sharskin-Plus) or 7+ year (Sharkskin-Supreme) out of the Westland Polyester (more if its not left int he sun all of the time). Let me know if you need a price - our overhead is low and we're usually less expensive than others ... |
Re: Boat cover purchase
Feel free to shoot me a price on my options. I haven't purchased a cover yet, but I'm planning to in the coming weeks. I have my much loved property taxes to pay first. :banghead:

Re: Boat cover purchase
Hey, I just picked up the sharkskin plus 7yr cover from iboats. It did come a free vent/pole and shipping for around 345. Only deal is it didn't come with any straps, (extra 40 bucks) so you really have to look at the whole package. It's really hard to compare cover to cover, so just went off some reviews, and the "you get what you pay for" idea. The best advice I would have is, keeping the bow, and mid area propped up with poles to keep the water and snow from pooling up, and messing everything up! I'm in lincoln, if you want to take a look at the cover. Good luck
