Harbor & Storage Fees
Granted we've still got a few months until boating season, but I just had to foot the bill for my summer Marina fees to get the 15% Boat Show discount.
25' Covered Port & Valet Launch Service-$1215. I opted for the covered port this year to try it. Without that, it'd be $982 for the summer. Winter storage expenses for '07-'08 ran $590 for covered outdoor warehouse storage. One of these days I'll have a nice big garage like Z275ST's. :) Anyone else care to divulge their summer harbor expenses? Curious to see what others are doing! |
You're lucky you can rent spaces in the marina like that. All of the places that we looked at to keep our boat on Lake Washington with amenities like what you got, we would have to buy the slip. Cheapest we found was in the neighborhood of $20,000 - $30,000 and you can imagine how much higher they go. In fact, i don't think we saw any that were available to just rent.
Spending most of our time in Chelan in the summer since even in the summer Seattle sun is still iffy, we just leave our boat over there. To many crazy's on Lake Washington anyway. There's a boat launch about a mile from our house. We have a private beach, dock, and buoy system at the community we live in that we share w/ about 20 other homeowners. Costs are included in homeowners dues and there's no driving, just walk down and you're boat is there. Granted you gotta swim out to the boat on the buoy or take the row boat, but the water is so clear and warm, it doesn't matter. |
Hey,
I have to walk nearly 100ft every time I want to see my boat!!! That’s tough on a fat boy! |
Lake Simcoe
I keep my boat in a very small ,family run marina at the mouth of the Pefferlaw River . I have a covered slip and they take care of everything to do with launching as well as hauling out ( Over the slip) .I have gotten to know the operators very well over the years and I will be paying about $1200.00 this season which includes both launch and hauling .The extras are winterization as well as power washing( Good old Lake Simcoe green algae!!!)but their prices are very good and by the time I drive up to the boat to do it myself I think its better that they do it for me .
If I feel the need to do some extra work I can throw it on my trailer and put it in my driveway in Toronto. There is a pool as well as picnic area and washrooms w/showers. I can't say its a flashy place but afterall I just want to get to the boat, load up and disappear as fast as I can . |
I splurged for the slip with a lift this year. Geist Reservoir has only one marina, so they essentially have a monopoly and charge whatever they want. Guess what... they're full every year!!! Our slip is $2600 for 2008.
Yeah, I'm not real happy about the prices. Doesn't include anything but 24/7 security guards - no other services. Thing is, I can get home from work, and be in the middle of the lake 10 minutes later. Couldn't do that if I had to tow every time. Weeknights are some of the best times out there, so it's worth it to me. |
I'm going to make you guys jealous...
I pay approx. $800 annually for a 24' slip with unlimited launch ramp priviledges. For a full winterization, with indoor (steel building) storage I pay about $500. |
I'm gonna make you even jealouser......my inside storage cost me two bottles of wine (no, not Moody Blue or Baby Duck) and a subscription to Cottage Life magazine this winter. :p

Looks like MikeyT has me beat.
I think it was like $400 range for storage / winterization for me. Storage consists of a large wood/metal siding shed with a tarp drop down front. Photo below is from last sesason. http://www.mariahownersclub.com/gallery/index.php?title=1993-diablo&n=413 If you look in the very back, there is another storage shed, the 3rd spot from the left is where my boat is currently. Storage during season was a freebie from my uncle under his dock http://www.mariahownersclub.com/gallery/index.php?title=down-dock&n=394 I wanted to get my aunt/uncle a christmas gift for allowing me to store the boat there when im not using it, but we havent made up our minds on what to get him.. doh! |

Wow! I didn't know how lucky I was. You guys are paying a lot of $$$ for storage. But definitely worth it to protect the best boat around.
We have a private dock with lift located 75 yards from our lake house. It keeps it high and dry but the sun can still get to it. I've thought about putting a tarp on the open sides to help block the sun. I keep the boat covered with a large tarp, but the lower half is still exposed. |
Updating my own post:
Winterizing Parts and Labour: $160 Winter Storage of 18ft: $272 Chemical wash of bottom: $50 (worth it and some) Paying $482 and not paying taxes for it .... Priceless. (psst: taxes would have been $527.72 total). Always always always be nice to the people storing your boat! :wink_thumbup: Quote:
