draining water from block
Hi all;
We've been using our new (to us) 1996 Shabah 180 about once per week for the last three weeks. My quesiton is, should I drain the exhaust manifolds/block if I leave the boat unused for a couple of days, one week, or several weeks? If drained, should I leave the plugs out so that the block can dry out? Remember, rust never sleeps. |
Re: draining water from block
Do whatever you feel is necessary but to be honest, i've never seen anyone go to those extremes....

Re: draining water from block
Thanks, Mike....Sounds like it's ok to leave the water in the block until it's time to put her away for the winter? I was just thinking about folks who don't maintain or regularly change out the coolant in their car radiators. The radiators go from a nice green to a yucky rust. Since there aren't any rust inhibitors in lake water (well, except maybe in the Gulf courtesy of BP), I was just afraid my little V-6 would develop rust chunks and clog up some how. Since I'm so new to this, I was thinking about all the worst case situations. Sounds like this isn't an issue.
