drive problems

I took my recently purchased 1995, 202 out to the lake today and had a problem with the drive and I wanted to check if I was doing something wrong or if there is something wrong!!

Engine stated OK and I backed off the trailer. I positioned thetrim 'almost' fully down and engaged the drive to forward The boat started to rise and come on trim but then the forward motion stopped, but the engine rev's continued to climb, so I eased the throttle back,

The boat woudl idle OK with low rev's and even move forward with low rev's, but everytime I went to accelerate the boat would start to rise, but then lose forward momentum, but rev's increase,

Does anyone have any thoughts "hopefully" on what I am doing wrong or what may be the problem?

Sounds to me like a bad hub in your prop. Try your spare prop or get one to try to see if that solves the problem.

Sounds like the hub has "spun" in the propeller and under load it now slips. I believe JGREEN has a good idea in trying another prop if you can find one.

Glad it worked out for you candanewell. Now keep an eye out for a good used spare prop, just in case. I always had the aluminum prop on board my old sea ray with a cheap prop wrench for emergencies. Lucky I never needed to change one out on the lake. Now, with the Bravo3 I can't afford a spare set of props.
