Boating season

I know its a Looooong way off....but how late in the year do you guys boat? Here in central Illinois, I'm hoping to be able to boat till mid October. Last year, I took my old boat out on the Friday before new years eve! 55 degrees seemed like nice weather! Went out, had a little wine and a cigar with another crazy boat friend.

Since my boat is at the cottage (2.5 hour drive) it all depends on when I make that last trip up for the season. Last year it was mid-September

This year, I hoping for some "Indian summer" and maybe run the season into early October.

as late as possible i hope, but here in Michigan, i can allready see the end of the tunnel
been cold and raining for the last 2 weeks almost every day
went out thursday anyway and the water was cold to swim in

comeon global warming...LOL

It depends on the weather, but I try to go in October. The water at Lake cumberland is like taking a nice warm bath right now:). How many of you winterize your boat yourself?

Everyone keeps talking about the end of summer being here. I'm not buying it just yet. I'm going to try to keep mine operational until Mid to Late October, if I can. There's nothing worse than making that monthly payment when you're not using it.

Mid October for me. Football season is well underway at that point and the end of season yard work starts to pile up. If it stays seasonably warm....I'll just wait until the Marina pesters me to get the boat out of the slip!

I am in PA and the end of September is usually when I take the boat out and begin preparing it for winter. I also would be interested in how others winterize their boats. I am debating between storing in the mushroom mines or leaving it out in the weather.

Mid October is about it for us in mid-Ohio:-(

I have winterized my boat for the past 5 years. It's straight forward and inexpensive, one just has to be nimble enough to get to the engine drain ports and rubber tubing. Perhaps we should start another thread on winterizing.

Yeah Randy... hold off just a little bit longer okay? Us Canucks are used to having 10ft of snow come October so we'll need to be ready just before then. ;)
