Re: Need Info Please
We do have a copy of the 1996 manual and the Promotional brochure in our library which, as a silver contributor, you have access to. The manual provides very little info though on your boat, its more of general boating guide. The sales/promotional brochure has more info.
I dont believe it is an auto bilge pump (at least mine isnt) and the oil filter is a standard mercruiser item available at any mercruiser dealer. All they need to know is what engine you have (3.0L or 4.3L). |
Re: Need Info Please
I have looked at the 1996 manual... no help there like you said just boating info, cant seem to find the The sales/promotional brochure. also looked at your pics mikeyt, nice Shabah (looks like mine)

Re: Need Info Please
Have a look in the Original Mariah section under the Promotional Materials Archive. There is a 1996 brochure on the first page of that thread. You can download it if you wish or simply view it on-line.
I've sent you a response to your PM. |
Re: Need Info Please
There's an easy way to tell if the bilge pump is automatic. First find the bilge pump, which is usually located directly under the engine. Next look if it has a square shaped part attached to it. If so, that's the float switch for the automatic control of the bilge pump. Here's a photo of what it could look like.

Re: Need Info Please
I just assumed mine wasnt because it's never started up on its own.....possibly cuz i've never had enough water in the bilge?
Actually i dont think the one in my boat is original equipment. I'll have to have a closer look at it when i get it out of storage. |
Re: Need Info Please
MikeyT- if you've got an automatic float switch on the pump, test it by lifting the floater arm up. The pump should kick on. If not, sometimes it gets cruddy with grime. Mine wasn't working properly, so I manually moved the switch about 20 times up and down, and it works like a champ now!
