Power Steering

I seem to have more than normal free play in my steering. I am also wondering if my power steering is actually working correctly? It's not hard to steer but I seem to remember it being a bit easier to steer last year and compared to other boats I think there may be something wrong? I don't know much about the maintenance and serviceability of the steering system so any help is appreciated.

I don't know much about the power steering but, logically speaking, if you turn the wheel with the engine off, it should be harder to turn than when running. If it is not, then your power steering may be out. Like I said, this is a guess. I am more familiar with cars.

I am more concerned with the amount of free play. With regard to how easy it should steer I was just wondering if there is a bleeding process or extra maintenance(grease somewhere I don't know about), cables etc.
